barleybase Rifftastic doom with excellent fantasy subject matter. Rolls you right over. I love how gritty the vocals get. The pace changes and moving melody really drive everything home. Solid album right here. Favorite track: Crystal Nomad.

FDJ (Desert Psychlist) Nicely balanced mix of metals, proto and old school heavy, with touches of doom thrown in for good measure

Tusk Rider 04:07
Hunting the mastodon Methodically tracking the herd Suddenly, one spots the tribe Comes barrelling toward the line With a well placed club I bring it to its knees Throw a rope around its tusks as it rips me off my feet Thrashing Grasping Blindly flailing at the air Gripping The rope tight I yank it back With all my might Perched atop 6 tons of muscle I grab the reins and tie them taut Terastodon skull as its muzzle Bow before my steed or rot Charging Into the fray You’re crushed under its feet Cannot be outran You cannot pierce its hide Lay down the weapons you have drawn And kneel before the mastodon With a well placed club I brought it to its knees I threw a rope around its tusks as it ripped me off my feet The mastodon and I got to know each other well Now upon its tusks I ride straight into Hell

Marching over the mountain Atop my loyal mastodon I awake at the camp in the morning Set my sights on the ziggurat Make our way to the valley Marching through the swamp Sticks and mud underfoot In the ruin of the lake A humid heat with air so thick I could cut it with my blade 'Til finally above the trees We see the looming pyramid Dreaming of the Obelisk On the throne sits my own flesh I've walked the land Climbed every step To return to where my soul is enmeshed I went to the Seer To hear what She would tell She told me of the fortress Made of black obsidian A stepped pyramid Throne atop its peak Usurper sits it now But it was chiseled just for me CHARGING AT THE STEPS KICKING AT MY STEED ARROWS FLYING OVERHEAD RAINING DOWN ON ME BRANDISHING MY SWORD CRYING OUT FOR MORE IF THAT'S THE BEST THAT YOU CAN DO YOU BEST PREPARE FOR WAR I can see it I can feel it That chair you sit upon is mine That chair of black stone The Obelisk Throne That chair of black stone The Obelisk Throne That chair of black stone The Obelisk Throne That chair of black stone The Obelisk Throne Finally The final step Take one more leap And hold your breath On the throne Seated, the Usurper Skin and bone Depleted, lifeless and bare With a laugh I grab his corpse and throw it to the ground Staring back The glossy sheen of an obsidian throne I take my seat And feel its energy coursing through me The power of the pyramid Under my feet But what is this? Sudden and sharp I feel its touch A cold iron hand grabs my heart And my lungs Shortness of breath As my heart stops its beat What have I done? As my vision fades In the distance I make out the shape Of a mastodon On a mountaintop

Dragon Wagon 03:34
Under the mountain Deep in the cave I followed the bones To the unmarked grave Through winding tunnels Labyrinth of stone I found the hoard Lizard upon his throne Sleeping upon a mountain of gold And gems And weapons And armor of old Mordominus Scourge of the Northern People I stumble And metal coins bounce off the floor He sees me His eyes wide awake I turn to run as the floor begins to shake Sprinting Hot breath at my back Not one has claimed to survive his attacks Looking for an exit I go back the way I came Dead end The chamber fills with flame Melted rock The ceiling begins to shake It collapses Trapping the dragon in his place Desperately he pleads, "Please free me! I'll grant you what you wish, anything you desire!" Carefully I contemplate the offer Grinning ear to ear as I reach for the rocks I gather the wagon Wrap a gold chain round his neck And load it up with treasure! Flying back to town On the back of a giant lizard Wagon of gold in tow Waving hello to the wizard I've got a dragon wagon Look at my dragon wagon You wish you had a dragon wagon Jealous of my dragon wagon? Look at my dragon wagon Jealous of my dragon wagon

Trilobyte 02:47
Deep underground Within the rock You’ll find the bones Encased in stone An ancient beast Hitherto unreleased Exhume the corpse Careful do not break the shell Eons ago Its body turned to stone Calcified Bring it in the light The burial site Of the Trilobyte The moment the air hits its flesh A crack appears across its chest Revealing what lay under stone Should have left it all alone Just needed to unearth the stone Refused to heed the ancient tome If indeed you chose to read You’d find the prophecy is thee Eons ago Its body turned to stone Calcified Bring it in the light The burial site The Trilobyte The burial site The Trilobyte

A hundred days A thousand nights Walking on bare feet Cursing the light Crystal Nomad Travels across the Wastes Wielding the Scepter Skin peeling off his face All of his fellows Are claimed by the sand All of his skin and bones Are cursed by this land Searching the empty ruin The place was his home Uncovered a wicked spirit Inhabiting the stone Crystal Nomad Travels across the Wastes Wielding the Scepter Skin peeling off his face Crystal Nomad Travels across the Wastes Wielding the Scepter Skin peeling off his face All of the ocean Has turned to ash All of the mountains Have crumbled, fallen at last He stops in his tracks He's starting to cry He breaks off the crystal And hurls it into the sky The sky

Disconnected From the mind and the body My soul Is drifting Away from me I have seen my bones I have felt my skin Unconscious impulses Chain a bond to them A fire in the liver Burns away my flesh Bursting the stitches Salted wounds afresh Disfigured and contorted A nameless heap of flesh The body Unneeded For what happens next An essence Vacates the living shell Unguided Destination too obscure to tell My mind My body My heart My soul Your home Your eternity Your rotted bones The sky Tears open To a burning sun Staring At the light It all becomes one Forgetting The body The cosmos Offers its hand Shooting out into the void At the speed of light Unbounded by the vessel that Once held you tight Beyond the border Beyond the shell A vast expanse of nothingness An eternity of hell

about

A tome was found in the ancient tomb, buried and forgotten. Its chapters containing chronicles of kingdoms and heroes long past, fables from a history lost to the sands of time. It is through his writings that these legends live on, revived and immortalized through tribute in song. Through this, the Lorekeeper lives on.
