A crown of bones
Atop an ancient skull
Within his tome
Incantations to seal your soul
He holds the chalice
Of life divine
The essence of all that was gifted
From the beginning of time
Ancient perversion
Of god and man
He has risen from the ashes
Usurped the throne
And claimed this land
Green Lich
The Green Lich
Emerald Wizard
The Green Lich
Green Lich
For thousands of years
An eon or two
He studied the spells
Learning how to
Cheat death itself and rule with an iron fist
A master arcane
He slowly became
While he hid in the depths of the land of the dead
Breaking the seals and unearthing the forbidden texts
Unknown to him
The cost of it all
Racking up debt
Further digging his hole
Blinded by greed
By the end it was all he could see
When he finally found
The key to it all
The spell that would finally unlock his soul
He looked at himself and didn’t recognize a thing
A pile of bones wearing tattered cloak
A misty green hue had become his shadow
Whoever he met would only greet him
With a scream
To the world he proclaimed,
“Is that what you see?
A monster enshrouded by green energy?
If that’s what you want, then that’s what I’ll be!
I finally found my destiny.”
And havoc he wreaked
With the magic he learned
Village and city
To the ground they were burned
Thousands succumbed
To the wrath
Of the Emerald Wizard
The Green Lich
Emerald Wizard
The Green Lich
Green Lich
Inevitably
A hero arose
To track down the Lich with the magic he knows
And avenge the bloodshed the beast left in its wake
Easy to say
Much harder done
Where to begin?
Which direction to run?
Confidently, he rides
Into the sun
Into the sun

Among the Thuja Plicata
Exposed roots in the thick dark swamp
Knee deep in fetid water
You wade into its mossy jaws
Just beyond your foggy vision
It waits for its meal to come
Metasequoia and Taxodium
Give it cover from the curious ones
Bog Creature
Bog Creature
Bog Creature
Below the algae
Below the mud
It waits for the lucky ones
Who wander in its swamp
Its got three rows of teeth
Inside its gaping maw
It stands over fifteen feet
Silhouetted in the misty fog
Long
It has waited
In
Its fetid swamp
Hunger
It has suffered
Saliva
Drips from its jaws
It happens all at once
Before you know it, it lunges forth
Swiping with its claws
Barely missing your jugular
Dislodging your feet
From the deep and sticky mud
Trying to outrun
The mossy abomination
It’s waited 40 years
The massive beast of mud and moss
It can smell your fears
It tracks you through the fog
Bog Creature
Bog Creature
Bog Creature
Hidden in the fog
You stepped into his bog
Hidden in the fog
Hidden in the fog
You stepped into his bog
Now he has his prey

A massive swarm of legs
On a body 20 feet long
Rushes from the brush
A colossal arthropod
Pincers flank its face
Jutting from its carapace
As you draw your mace
You pray that you’ll make it out of this
Shell is harder than the hardest steel
Have to hit harder or become its next meal
In a split second
You’re caught between its jaws
You feel your ribs cracking
Within its massive claws
Centipede Queen
The biggest bug you’ve ever seen
Centipede Queen
The adamantine killing machine
You’re quickly losing
Your breath and your blood
Your mace slams down
Upon its mighty head
With a painful screech
It drops you to the ground
As you struggle to your feet
It quickly whips around
Centipede Queen
The biggest bug you’ve ever seen
Centipede Queen
The adamantine killing machine
Centipede Queen
She’s the biggest damn bug you’ve ever seen

The fungus overgrown
Over peat and under loam
Strangling the green
In the Forest of the Dark
Strange creatures burrow here
But none so strange or widely feared
As the mighty fungi called
Mycoloth
He’s on the trees
Spores in the breeze
The Mycoloth
Fungal disease
That needs to feed
The Mycoloth
Hundreds of its saprolings
Terrorizing everything
We are at their mercy
As they run amok
Air choked with all of its spores
Breathing becomes a mighty chore
Resistance all but futile
Against this beast
Hold your breath
No time to rest
It feeds on the green
The fungal machine
Unbounded by mankind
Our forest is running out of time
The future’s looking bleak
Due to preying upon the weak
By a monstrous fungus
And its saprolings
Not much that one can do
But if together like we’re glue
We might just stand a chance
Against the Mycoloth
He’s on our trees
Spores in the breeze
The Mycoloth
We’ll hold the line
Defend our tribe
Against the Mycoloth
And if we fail
To no avail
At least we fucking tried

Up in the trees
Among the leaves
The arrowheaded serpents weave
Patiently
They wait for thee
Over your head they hear you breathe
The Jaculi
Serpentine
8 foot long and 2 foot wide
In the trees they like to hide
Waiting for their time to strike
The elder god Moa created them
Stronger than a boa
The bane of men
If you go walking among the trees
Better quit talking
Keep an eye on the leaves!
At a moment’s notice, they’ll drop on you
Jaws open wide and they don’t need to chew
Swallow you whole and spit out the bones
Leaving no time for a scream or a moan
Stay out of the jungle
It’ll keep you humble
Many a man
Have succumbed to this land
The Jaculi
Serpentine
8 foot long and 2 foot wide
In the trees they like to hide
Waiting for their time to strike
The Jaculi
Serpentine
8 foot long and 2 foot wide
Run and scream try to get inside
They’ll track you down for miles by scent
They have the taste for human flesh
There’s nowhere
To hide
From the Jaculi
Up in the trees
Among the leaves,
The arrowheaded serpents weave
Patiently
They wait for thee
Over your head they hear you breathe
“I pray to the forest
And I pray to the trees
If I could be spared
And keep my dignity
I promise I’d be faithful
And I promise I’d be true!
To the goddess of the jungle
Moa! That’s you
If you’d only take some pity
On an insect like me
And stay your serpent creatures
I promise to obey!”
From over the treetops
And high above the clouds
The goddess Moa
Heard a whining sound
From a lowly creature
Groveling in the dirt
With a wave of her hand
She sent her snakes
And the sound died down
Peace and quiet
In its wake
You cannot hide
From the Jaculi
You cannot hide
From the Jaculi

So, you’re looking for the lich?
First you gotta find the witch
Atop the mountain in the cave
She’ll read your bones and divine your grave
Oracle
Communes with the dead
She rolls the bones
Setting fates in stone
Inside the mountain
I found her lair
I offered tribute
And this is what she said:
“A powerful enemy
You foolishly seek
An ancient magic he wields
A task unsuited for the meek
Written in your bones
I see you standing all alone
You’ll slay your enemy
But live forever with your grief!”
Oracle
Communes with the dead
She rolls the bones
Setting fates in stone
Oh, Oracle
Communes with the dead
She rolls the bones
Setting fates in stone

Straying from the path
Enticed by the unknown
Marking your way back
Leaving footprints in the snow
You traveled that old road
A thousand times before
If only you had known this would be your last
What horrors
Await
Deep in the woods you sealed your fate
It’s lurking
Behind the trees
Piercing your ear you hear her screech
Banshee
Screaming through the trees
Grave soliloquy
Of the recently deceased
Banshee
Screaming through the trees
Grave soliloquy
Of the recently deceased
Echoing through the woods
Dead trees holding snow
Lost and cold searching for a landmark
Wishing you could go back home
Screams are getting louder
Your fate is drawing nearer
Why did you have to set foot off that path?
The horror
Arrives
A spectre of grief with blood red eyes
Her visage
Beckons for you
As her wailing screech deafens your mind
Banshee
Screaming through the trees
Grave soliloquy
Of the recently deceased
Banshee
Screaming through the trees
Grave soliloquy
Of the recently deceased
Banshee!

As you approach the gates
You spy the feline beast
Guarding the maze
She rises to her feet
“Traveler
You have come a long way!
Your trials
Have led you to this day
Answer all my questions
And tell me no lies
There is just one answer
Between you and your prize
Listen closely
For I do not repeat
Your riddle is as follows
Divined by prophecy:
‘I am in every living thing
You all have one of me
I am the cause
Of grief and strife
But can also give relief
Without me you’d only be a pile of flesh
And with me
You are cursed
Doomed to relive all your past mistakes
And immortalize your worst,’
Answer all my questions
And tell me no lies
There is just one answer
Between you and your prize.”
For a while you ponder
As you look up to the sky
Knowing that goddamn answer
Is right between your eyes

They came by land and sea
The ancient enemy
Upon their mighty steeds
They began to lay the siege
Behind these castle walls
Our pride will never fall
This house stands ever tall
Our spirit weathers all
They started with the food
Starvation killed the mood
With the water running dry
No tears were left to cry
Beyond the moated walls
The riders sitting tall
With more than enough to feed
Their growing armies
They lasted
Two whole years
Breathing
Air soaked in fear
The walls that had once
Kept them safe
Now threatened
To choke them to their graves
Over the hill
Time stood still
Help had arrived
And hope was revived
Their army descended on the legions
“Did you even know who you were sieging?”
Hitting harder than the changing of the seasons
“Just try me I been waitin’ for a reason!”
Saved
By the bell
Our allies gave them hell
Just a few more days
These walls would’ve surely fell
We owe our lives to the other side
Without them our hope would’ve surely died
But as our noble saviours came on over the moat
They jumped upon our king and put a knife to his throat!

Up in their balconies
In their towers of ivory
They point and laugh
At the peasants in the dirt
Sipping on their chateau wine
Mulling on a roast divine
Their soft smooth hands
Have never felt the work
Thank God their delicate hands have never seen the toil
Not sure their manicures would ever survive the soil
Sitting back in their chairs
Cause they provide the gold
“Now if those lowly workers would just do as they’re told!”
They are the Guild
Their cities built
On the backs of those enslaved
They are the Guild
Their cities built
By the tears and blood and sweat of slaves
It started with the one
Standing up to a loaded gun
They shot him down
His body hit the floor
And a hundred thousand, maybe more
Rose up from the mines
“We have had enough!
We’re calling on your bluff
You think you’re fucking tough?
Let’s find out!”
They were the Guild
And they’ve been billed
For the damage that they caused
They were the Guild
And they paid their bill
With their solid gold blood

Lich's Bane

Over the mountains
Uprooting the trees
His path of destruction
Brought the empire to its knees
The Green Lich
A curious wizard
Overcome by ancient runes
The magic infected his body
And its bidding
He has done
A monster
He has become
Village and city
Have fallen by his hand
With a wave of his staff
He parts the Burning Sands
His conquest continues
Over the Great Divide
He’ll soon reach our kingdom
We have no place to hide
Far across the valley
A warrior rides upon his steed
Charging through the desert
Over the sand at breakneck speed
Hot on the wizard’s heels
Following the trail of death and misery
It’s only a matter of time
Until the sorcerer meets his steel
Lich’s Bane
Forged in flame
The enchanted blade
Will deliver your fate!
On the horizon
The lich appears
“Man your stations!
And swallow your fear
Shutter your windows
Bar your doors
Batten down the hatches
And prepare for war!”
On the edge of calamity
We brace for impact
As the Great Green Cloud approaches
Carrying the evil magic
A crack of thunder
Echoes through the valley
For, on horseback, the rider wields
An enchanted Blade of Destiny
Through the cloud he plunges forth
Parts the wind with his mighty sword
Into
The eye
Of the storm
He flies
Tonight
He dies
The green storm subsides
On the ground
Lying face down
A wizard’s body
All at once
A hellish green mist erupts from the corpse
Quickly infecting the sky
Consuming the clouds and obscuring the light
Unbounded by flesh and bone
The cursed magic spreads out far and wide
The rider aghast and alone
Falls to his knees as he watches his home
Overcome
By an ancient ruthless magic tome
Dug up by the fool
Slain by his own hand
A broken man
A broken land
Not all hope is lost
But it comes at the highest cost
He picks up the cursed tome
Recites the incantation
The magic begins returning home
As he feels his soul be taken!
